
Eighty-two photographic entries were received from residents in Cerro Gordo County and from those attending the spring or summer semesters at North Iowa Area Community College. Forty-seven photographs by twenty-four artists were chosen for exhibition by a panel of judges.
Area residents whose work was chosen for this year’s show are: Chris Barragy, Alec M Heggen, Brad Janson, Wendy Janson, Dennis Nettifee, Joyce T Sorensen, Margo Underwood, and Lisa Wolf of Clear Lake; Emily Belt, David Crippin, Robert Follmuth, Dr. Martie Geiger-Ho, Lisa Grouette, Kathy Kinsey, Kyle Lucas, Cheryl Massey, Bruce G McKee, Daniel Pennington, Valerie Joan Pennington, Jim Rose, Kathryn Skellenger, and Jaclyn Smith all of Mason City; Alanna Davison of Plymouth; Betty J Moore of Ventura.
An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 17, starting at 6 p.m. The cash award winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. $125 will be awarded to the entry selected as Best in Show. For the second award, $75 will be given, and the third award will be $50. Honorable mentions will also be announced. New this year, artists entering the Cerro Gordo Photo Show for the first time have the option to select the First Time Entrant category. Photographs in this category will only be judged against other first-time entrants and have the opportunity to win a $50 prize. The opening reception is free and open to the public.
