Ricky “Rick” Benton, 60, of Oelwein, formerly Charles City, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center in Waterloo.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City followed by a graveside service at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Ricky “Rick” Ray Benton, the son of Farris Ray and Darlene Mary (Oliver) Benton, was born May 23, 1964 in Osage, Iowa. He received his education through the Charles City Public Schools, graduating from Charles City High School in 1984.

Rick lived in Charles City with his mother until her passing in 2018. He then found a home with his loving extended family at the Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein, Iowa. He loved anything to do with airplanes (especially the Blue Angels), enjoyed watching T.V. and liked working with computers (even helping people at the Charles City Public Library with some of their computer issues).

Rick was able to help others one last time through his death as a donor through the Iowa Donor Network.

Living family members include his sister, Nicole Rodriguez (Chaz Skoda) of Charles City; half-sister, Nancy (Paul) Mandzuk of Gilbert, Arizona; two nieces: Alex and Caitlin; two nephews: R.J. and Kevin; great-niece, Ellie; great-nephew, Tyler; uncle, Tommy (Donna) Oliver; along with other family members and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney Benton; and grandparents on both sides.
