Michael Lee Kampman, 73, of Allison, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Memorial in Waterloo. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at Woodley Funeral Home in Allison. A private family graveside service will be held at the Allison Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Mike and his family.
Mike was born on May 3, 1951, in Hampton, the son of Willie and Aleasa (Uhlenhopp) Kampman. He graduated from Allison-Bristow High School in 1969, where he earned the nickname “Hopper”. After graduation, Mike attended Hawkeye Tech for auto mechanics.
Mike worked at Trey’s Service Station for several years. He then worked for Butler County REC for 33 years as a warehouse foreman. After retirement, Mike kept busy mowing and cleaning up lawns around the neighborhood in the summer and pushed snow in the winter.
Mike is survived by his two sisters: Marianne Folkerts of Allison and Mavis Downing of Ontario, Wisconsin; six nephews and nieces: Jim (Kim) Folkerts of Stout, Jeni Tjarks (Bill Frakes) of Goldfield, Brian Folkerts of Allison, Dawn (Ron) Wright of Melfort, SK Canada and Daniel (Casey) Downing of Norwalk, Wisconsin; along with ten great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law: Max Folkerts and Mike Downing.
