MASON CITY – Mason City police officers responded to a possible shots fired incident in the 300 block of 14th St. S.E. on Saturday, June 29th at about 6:30 PM.
Officers arrived on scene a short time later to investigate the alleged shooting. At that time they learned from witnesses that a male subject fled a residence, located 309 14th St. S.E. stating that he had just shot a subject inside. Officers made entry into that residence to search for potential injured subjects. During that time they discovered a spent shell casing and damage to the structure from someone discharging a handgun inside.
During the course of the investigation it was determined that a disturbance between a group of people had occurred with one unknown male subject threatening another male with a handgun. It was at this time that the unknown male discharged a handgun and then fled the property on a bike. Officers did learn that no one was shot during the incident.
