RURAL BENTON COUNTY, IOWA – A fatal ATV accident is under investigation by authorities in Benton county, Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2005 Polaris ATV and its operator were struck by a vehicle on Sunday, September 13, at 70TH Street and 13TH Avenue in rural Benton county, Iowa. That evening at about 5:47 PM, the ATV entered that intersection and failed to stop. At that moment, a 2003 Chevy Silverado operated by 52-year-old Duane A. Koopman of Newhall, Iowa entered the intersection and collided with the ATV.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the ATV was killed. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased and the accident remains under investigation.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Belle Plaine police, Belle Plaine EMS, and Belle Plaine fire.
