Mason City woman pleads guilty to assault

MASON CITY – A local woman agreed to a plea deal recently after being charged with second offense domestic abuse assault.

According to records, 21-year-old Brianna Hansen-Simmer of Mason City pled guilty on December 3rd to assault. Mason City police had originally charged Hansen-Simmer with second offense domestic abuse assault after the incident, which took place of September 1, 2013.

Hansen-Simmer was assessed a $100 fine, $105 in attorney fees and $100 in court costs by judge Annette Boehlje and was to begin a payment plan onf December 10th, but no payments have been made.

Hansen-Simmer is also awaiting a plea and sentencing hearing on January 6th on a charge of second offense operating while intoxicated and driving while barred.  In that alleged incident, which took place on July 26th, 2013, Hansen-Simmer struck a vehicle near Adams Avenue and 16th Street NW while driving drunk.

@USMC-I think we are just getting old and it is now a different world. They seem to just want and want without having to work. If you ever look at the jail roster it is filled with people in there for theft and drugs. I guess they feel like they won’t get caught but a good share of them do. Once it is on their record it will follow them the rest of their lives. It is one reason we have so many unemployed and under employed.

Whats up with all these women getting into trouble? Are they all on some kind of drugs? Back in my day women just wanted to get married and have a baby or two. I must be out of touch with the NOW generation.
