
On November 26, 2024, at approximately 3 AM, the Waverly Police Department responded to a residence in northwest Waverly for an ongoing assault involving a knife. Upon arrival, Waverly officers verified a Waverly man was stabbed after a verbal altercation with a 17-year-old subject. Waverly officers secured the subject and rendered aid to the victim until Waverly Ambulance Service arrived. The victim was transported to the Waverly Health Center for treatment of his injuries.
The subject in the attack was transported to Unity Point Health – Allen Hospital by Waverly Officers where he was admitted for further care. Unity Point was provided the Ed Thomas paperwork in order for law enforcement to be notified of his release and a warrant was issued for the youth’s arrest by the Waverly Police Department.
On December 10, 2024, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office served the warrant and transported the subject to the Bremer County Jail. Benjamin W. Schneider, age 17, was booked on charges of:
– Willful Injury (Class C Felony)
– Assault on a Peace Officer
– Interference with Official Acts.
Schneider is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
