February 25, 1932 – January 7, 2025
Lila Weber, 92, went to her heavenly home on January 7, 2025. Visitation for Lila will be 1-3 pm Sunday January 19th at Lentz Funeral Home in West Bend.
Lila Lavonne Lindhart was born on February 25, 1932, to Nels and Maureen (Goodell) Lindhart in Rutland, IA. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to a farm near Dolliver State Park, where she attended school in Lehigh, IA. After graduating, she moved to Webb, IA, to live with her sisters, Naomi and Maralyn.
She met Wayne Weber, and they were married on November 2, 1952, in Jackson, MN. Together, they had three children: Jane, Joan, and Gary. Webb was home until 1966, when they moved to West Bend, IA. Lila worked as a cook at the West Bend Care Center and the West Bend School. She also provided daycare in her home, forming special friendships with the children she cared for.
Lila was an exceptional cook and baker. She baked countless angel food cakes for special occasions in the community. Fried chicken and her angel food cakes were a family favorite for birthdays.
She loved to sing and, after moving to the nursing home, would wheel herself up and down the halls singing “Jesus Loves Me” and “You Are My Sunshine.”
The coffee pot was always on when family and friends stopped by to visit. Lila sewed clothes for her daughters and enjoyed knitting afghans for her family and dishcloths for anyone who wanted one.
A highlight of her life was traveling with her son Gary to Branson, MO, for the KICD Christmas trip. She also cherished a trip with her brother and sisters to North Carolina to visit her sister Naomi and brother-in-law Fred.
Preceding her in death were her husband Wayne; her parents Nels and Maureen; her brother Otis (Ruth) Lindhart; and her sisters Ruth (Lloyd) Schwendeman, Naomi (Fred) Sweet, and Maralyn (Raymond) Ball.
She is survived by her brother Charles “Buzz” Lindhart and his wife Ruth; her daughters Jane (Bob) Stoner and Joan (Denny) Cooke; her son Gary Weber; and her faithful dog Coco.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robert Johnson, Brad (Amber) Cooke, Brent Cooke, Nicole (Tom) Hallman, Maranda (Cortez King) Stoner, and Kelsey Morey and her great-grandchildren: Brady, Bryce, Braxton, Julianne, Jayda, Jennalee, and Jacilynn.
She will be missed by her dear friend Eunice Traub, nieces, nephews and many others whose lives she touched.
