SPENCER – A two-vehicle crash in Clay county Friday morning claimed the life of a Spencer woman.
The crash occurred at about 8:30 AM at the intersection of Clay County Roads B-40 and M-38. Emergency responders to the scene discovered a semi truck tipped over and a pickup truck in a ditch.
A 2010 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Terri McCarroll, age 63, of Spencer, was southbound on M-38 and failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection. The pickup truck entered the intersection and struck a westbound semi with a tanker, driven by Dennis Vandehoef, age 67, of Harris, Iowa.
McCarroll was pronounced dead at the scene. Vandehoef was injured and transported to Spencer Municipal Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
