ROCKWELL – A Mason City man rolled his pickup allegedly while speeding through town, causing it to go into a ditch and putting himself in the hospital with citations.
The Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office says the accident took place in Rockwell, late Saturday night. At about 11:12 PM on August 5, 2023, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Elm Street East and 7th Street North in Rockwell. The driver, 26-year-old Luke Frederick Kehret of Mason City, was driving a green 2001 Dodge Ram 2500, traveling east on Elm Street East at a high rate of speed. Kehret lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the south ditch, rolling it. The vehicle came to rest on its side.
As a result of the crash, Kehret was transported to Mercy one and treated for minor injuries. He was also issued citations for failure to maintain control and careless driving.
