Norman George Wheeler, 91, of Mason City, passed away August 3, 2024 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
Norman was born December 15, 1932 in Mason City, son of Everett and Clara Pearl (Cory) Wheeler. He graduated from Mason City High School with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Norman was enlisted in the United States Army where he fought on the front lines of the Korean War. Upon his return stateside, he worked for Marigold Dairy and dedicated 20 years of his career with them. Norman was united in marriage to Connie Wells September 2, 1956 in Mason City. To this union, they were blessed with three children. In 1974, they moved to Germantown, IA; then in 1976 the family moved to Dent, MN where they resided for about 30 years. There Norman worked as a foreman for Land of Lakes until his retirement in 1991. In 2005 they returned home to Mason City.
Norman was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mason City. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings Fan. For many years he worked with the Mason City Boy Scouts. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed doing a lot of woodworking, gardening and fishing.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Connie; children, Sharon (Mark) Clausen of Mason City, David (Barb) of Sutherland, IA, and Christine (Bob) Doe of Edina, MN; grandchildren, Adam (Rachel) Clausen, Kaylinn (Dylan) Anderson, Christopher Wheeler, Erica Wheeler, Angel Wheeler, Jackson Doe, along with granddog Marcy; great-grandchildren, Eden and Zion Clausen, Hannah Hurtig, Alec Wheeler; great-great-grandchild, Stella Haack ; sister, Donna (Robert) Wheeler of Racine, WI; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Everett and Clara; brother, Eugene; and sisters, Fern and LaVonne.
