In June, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the federal Affordable Care Act. This federal initiative has already helped thousands of Iowans by expanding access to health care, lowering costs and increasing preventative care. This includes:
• Saving Iowa seniors on Medicare thousands on prescription drugs
• Helping Iowans with pre-existing conditions get coverage.
• Allowing young adults to stay on their parents’ health insurance policy up to age 26.
• Ensuring Iowans no longer have lifetime caps on health insurance policies.
• Providing Iowans with preventative health services without co-pays. This includes well-child visits, cancer screenings and immunizations.
Federal efforts could also expand Medicaid coverage to more than 80,000 additional Iowans, many of whom work fulltime. This will lower health care costs for everyone by ensuring more Iowans are able to get regular checkups and preventive care, rather than relying on expensive emergency room visits.
With the federal commitment to pay for almost all of the cost, Iowans might save as much as $316 million annually if we participate in the Medicaid Expansion offered under federal health care reform, according to the non-partisan Urban Institute.

I read a story that of the 3 major hospitals in Texas. Of the 2600 births they had 70% percent were babies born to Illegals. Payed for by us good hearted Americans. Were the ones getting screwed.

Please wake up! When people get the impression medical care is 100% paid for, it gets abused!
My late father is a prime example: He went to SIX different physicians, until a doctor filled out the forms correctly so he could get a electric wheel chair, plus a lift to get the chair into his SUV! He kept saying, “It’s free…” NO IT’S NOT! My friends, family and I are paying through our taxes for that chair.
He was a great one to go to the emergency room when he had flatulence crossways… taking up six hours of ER time and space @ Mercy… “Why not? He’d ask. It’s free!” NO IT’S NOT!!
A dentist friend of mine had to quit taking Medicare/Medicaid patients because they’d set appointments, and not show up. He’d be out the revenue, and if he’d attempt to solve it with double-booking medicaid patients, they’d show up, causing timing issues with patients who pay personally or have dental insurance.
I want to see a co-pay for Medicare/Medicaide so it is not abused.

WHO CAN AFFORD THAT? I can’t!
So if I don’t get health insurance, I’ll get taxed $2,000 by the feds, and be 100% responsible for the entire medical and drug bill!!!
The only problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money. We are on the fast track to get to that point.
