CHARLES CITY – Charles City is bidding farewell to Interim Fire Chief Marty Parcher at an open house party on Friday.
This Friday, August 2, 2024, the Charles City Fire Department will be celebrating the long career and retirement of Interim Fire Chief Marty Parcher.
“We invite everyone out for an open house at the station from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM,” the department said. “The community is invited to come out and wish Marty a wonderful retirement from the fire department.”
Parcher, a firefighter, came out of retirement in 2022 following the departure of Fire Chief Eric Whipple to hold the position.
Charles City announced the hire of a new Fire Chief, Sam Deverell, back in June.
“Sam comes to us after an extensive career in the military and fire service industry,” according to the department. “Sam is a Charles City graduate and he and his family recently moved back to Charles City. Sam will replace Marty Parcher who served as interim chief for the last year.”
