Cody R. Glidden, 33, of Garner, IA passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday January 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Garner VFW, 315 Center Ave, Garner, IA 50438.

Cody was born to Travis and Theresa (Martin) Glidden on January 28, 1990. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 2008. Cody graduated from NIACC with an AA and AS. He also attended SDSU in Brookings, SD, NRA Gunsmithing in Trinidad, CO, and North Iowa Pilot Training and Flight School.

Along the way he shared his skills with Chapel Hill Retrievers, Pritchard’s, Ace Hardware, SDSU Laboratories, Stellar Industries and any family members who needed help with a project.

Cody’s greatest loves were playing and spending time with his nephews and niece, researching so he could answer most questions faster than the internet, old Toyotas, deep intellectual conversations, sciences – especially chemistry, quoting movies and song lyrics, troubleshooting, thinking outside the box, having witty comebacks, gunsmithing, sharing knowledge with others – especially kids, chaperoning field trips to Rockford Quarry as a “real” paleontologist, the smell of old books, his time in Colorado, and exchanging skills and knowledge with his grandpa Bob.

Due to his love of science, Cody chose to be a donor and was able to gift many through the Iowa Donor Network.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents Travis and Theresa Glidden; siblings Autumn (Nick) Gnerer, Tristin (Lane) Peterson, and Ty Glidden; nephews and niece Decker Peterson, Croix Glidden, Maverick Gnerer, and Madison Gnerer; and grandmother Lorraine Martin.

Cody was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Robert Martin; paternal grandparents Cathy and Keith Haugen; niece Sawyer Gnerer; and his beloved dog Ducki.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family and will be used to establish a scholarship in Cody’s name.
