WEST BRANCH, IOWA – Three people were killed Monday in a wrong-way head-on crash on Iowa’s Interstate 80 .
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at about 4:30 AM on December 21, 2020 at the 254 mile marker on westbound Interstate 80 near West Branch. The patrol says a 2015 Nissan Altima driven by 20-year-old Eric Nunez of Plano, Illinois, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 when he struck westbound 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 70-year-old Robert C. Larson of West Liberty, Iowa. The head-on crash killed both drivers and Caravan passenger Teresa I. Larson, age 68, of West Liberty.
The crash remains under invesigation.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, West Branch Fire Department, and the Cedar county medical examiner.
