WEST UNION, IA – A highly intoxicated man was discovered lying face-down on an Iowa highway in recent days, and rescued by police before being taken to jail.
On June 14, 2014 at 11:52 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was called about a male subject lying face down in the roadway on Hwy. 18 between West Union and Clermont. When the Deputy arrived, it was observed that a male, later identified as 37 year old Aurelio Hernandez Lopez of Postville, Iowa, was highly intoxicated and passed out, lying on the ground, now on the shoulder of Hwy. 18 near F Ave.
Lopez was taken to Palmer Hospital to be checked out for injuries, and then he was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for an initial appearance in court.
