DES MOINES – Consumers in Iowa should be aware that beginning today, July 1, 2020, you must be 21 years of age to purchase or use tobacco products here.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2268 into law on June 29, 2020 that raises the minimum age for a person to purchase, use, or sell tobacco, tobacco products, alternative nicotine products, vapor products, and cigarettes in Iowa from 18 to 21 years old. The new minimum age requirement takes effect immediately.
This law change is in response to a change in federal law from December of 2019 which raised the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products from 18 to 21 years old.
The MCPD should also enforce the liquor laws too. Especially at North Side Liquors. Lots of underage sales there.
Isn’t that a federal law already?
It used to be 14 unwritten.
Good, now enforce it!!!
MCPD enforcing any law???? I don’t think so.
that’s funny, there seems to be quite a few in jail, seven already this month!!! after this weekend, there will be a whole bunch more. you should probably stay home!
