MASON CITY – The NIACC softball team is ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division II poll released Tuesday.
Jones County Junior College (25-4) is ranked No. 1.
DMACC is ranked fourth, Kirkwood is ranked sixth and Iowa Central is ranked ninth.
NIACC (16-8 overall, 8-2 in the ICCAC) was ranked 20th in last week’s poll. The Lady Trojans were 6-2 last week with three wins over Iowa Central and one win over Kirkwood.
NIACC returns to action at home on Thursday in a nonconference contest against Marshalltown CC. The twinbill is slated to start at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, NIACC sisters Kaci and Kylie Sherwood both won ICCAC player of the week honors for the week of April 1-7.
Kaci shared player of the week honors with Southwestern’s Ali Enright and Kylie shared pitcher of the week honors with Kirkwood’s Erin Hocker.
Kaci, a sophomore, hit .560 in eight games last week, including two doubles and three home runs. She now has 15 career home runs, which ranks third on the school’s career list.
Kylie, a freshman, was 2-1 last week for the No. 7 Lady Trojans. She tossed a five-inning perfect game against Iowa Central in a 12-0 victory on April 1 and threw a five-inning no-hitter against Northeast CC on April 6.
