CLEAR LAKE – A Waterloo man is behind bars, accused of burglaries and other crimes, one of which in the Ventura area.
On December 16, 2018, Jonathan H. Martin, 35 of Waterloo, Iowa, was arrested in Butler County, Iowa for burglary. This was a result of an extensive ongoing, multi‐jurisdictional investigation, involving many law enforcement agencies including the Clear Lake Police Department. Martin is originally charged with one count of Burglary 3rd degree, a Class D Felony and three counts of Attempted Burglary, all aggravated misdemeanors stemming from incidents in Butler County.
Clear Lake investigators believe Martin was involved in in the break‐in at Ventura Mart on November 23, 2018.
“This investigation involved around 20 burglaries that occurred across eastern and northern Iowa,” said Captain Mike Colby. “Clear Lake detectives worked closely with other investigators from various law enforcement agencies in order to successfully arrest Martin and close these cases.”
Martin was charged with one count of 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony, and four counts of Iowa Lottery Ticket Theft, all Class D felonies, from the incident at the Ventura Mart. The investigation continues and additional charges are pending.
Clear Lake Police Department was assisted by: the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, the Hampton Police Department, the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the Iowa DOT Bureau of Investigation & Identity Protection, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the Oelwein Iowa Police Department, and the Sumner Iowa Police Department.
