Trio of troublemakers chased by Mason City police; two still at large

MASON CITY – A Rudd man was nabbed by Mason City police as he rolled through town in a pickup truck with his two pals, who were on stolen snowmobiles.

Police tell NIT that on February 24, 2018 at 4:33 AM near 8th Street SW and Penn Avenue, officers tried to stop a truck that was seen following two snowmobiles driving down the street in concert. The snowmobile operators immediately fled the scene and abandoned the two snowmobiles several blocks away. The driver of the truck, 26-year-old Levi Shackleton of Rudd, was stopped.

After an investigation, Shackleton was arrested for:

– Floyd Co Warrant – Failure to Pay Child Support
– Theft 1st Degree ( 2 cts) Class C Felony
– Burglary 3rd Degree – Class D Felony
– Conspiracy – Class D Felony

The snowmobiles had been recently stolen from an enclosed, locked large trailer nearby. Each snowmobile is valued at over $10,000. The two snowmobile operators have not been identified yet.

The truck was impounded and towed to the PD.

This case remains under investigation, police say.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department assisted with this incident.

Shackleton remains in jail.
