MARIN COUNTY,CA – On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 am, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA.
The Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63 year old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend,” Robin Williams’ wife Susan Schneider said in a statement.
An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted. A press conference will be held on August 12, 2014 at 11:00 am.
I woke up feeling really down this morning and I couldn’t quite put my finger on why. And then I realized it’s connected to Robin Williams’ suicide.
I’ve suffered from bouts of depression throughout my life. Some were pretty scary.
Here’s this hugely popular, hilariously funny, generous, and just plain likeable person, who finds it necessary to end his misery because he could no longer go on. It makes me afraid. Could I ever get that low? And could I handle it?
Thank you for sharing your story and the pain of depression. Simply putting words to the illness as you have done so profoundly, helps bring healing, hope and understanding. Peace to you my friend.
Thank you. Peace to you, also.
@JMO-It was a terrible loss of a great talent. I wish I had known about your isse before. I certainly would have tempered some of my response if I had known. However, let me caution you not to share to much personal information on here. There are those who will turn it against you in a heartbeat.
Thank you, LVS. I will take your advice to heart.
Curious LVS, why is Robin Williams allowed to get a pass on your anti-drugger campaign? Is it because his drug use was actually successful for his career? It’s obvious he was on cocaine, which undoubtedly fueled his manic zaniness and energy levels. He sped up his neurons to his advantage. Now under my proposed system, people like Robin Williams would be perfectly legal and entitled to use substances, because they don’t rob, murder or assault: They create and make inventions.
@Philly-regretfully he paid a dear price for his addictions, both alcohol and hard drugs. I firmly believe that they had an affect on his attitude and mentality. That being said, it was a terrible waste of talent all the way around.
Yeah JMO, that was a heartfelt reflection, thanks for sharing. I too suffer from SEVERE bouts of melancholia…I mean so down I’m pinned to the ground. I fast my way out of it, by sticking to only fruits, and raw vegetables for a few days. It pulls me out. Never underestimate the power of raw foods healthy diet. It can and does perform miracles.
