MASON CITY – A Mason City man has been arrested after police say he showed pornographic pictures to a young girl.
Mason City police tell NIT that 45-year-old Travis Jon Waslick of Mason City showed pornographic pictures to a juvenile female at a Mason City residence back in November. A warrant for his arrest was issued this month after the incident was reported to police and an investigation was conducted.
“The incident was reported to MCPD the day after it occurred,” Mason City Chief of Police Jeff Brinkley says.
Waslick faces charges of disseminating obscene material to minors and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested this weekend and records show he has posted bond and been released from jail. A judge imposed a no-contact order in the case. He now faces a February 16 hearing on the matter.
Iowa code states that any person, other than the parent or guardian of the minor, who knowingly disseminates or exhibits obscene material to a minor, including the exhibition of obscene material so that it can be observed by a minor on or off the premises where it is displayed, is guilty of a public offense and shall upon conviction be guilty of a serious misdemeanor.
