Shootout in Davenport today leads to arrest of four people

DAVENPORT, IOWA – A shootout and car chase led police to capture and arrest four people Monday in Davenport.

On Monday, September 25, 2017, at approximately 12:11 AM, Davenport police responded to the area of 700 W. 63rd St. in reference to a shots fired call. Officers located shell casings in this area. A residence was struck and a female laying on her couch holding her infant child was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital by Medic with non-life threatening injuries. A white, four-door vehicle was observed by witnesses leaving the area.

At 1:32 AM, Davenport Police responded to the area of 6300 Appomattox Rd. in reference to shots fired. Officers responding located casings in the area. A white, four-door vehicle was observed by witnesses leaving the area.

At 2:51 AM, Davenport Police responded to the parking lot of a business in the 300 block of N. Division reference a female loading a handgun in the parking lot and then getting into a white, Chevrolet Malibu, the vehicle left the area northbound. Officers located this vehicle a short time later and attempted to initiate a traffic stop; the vehicle took off and a vehicle pursuit was approved. The pursuit while southbound on Gaines St. and moving in the direction of the Centennial Bridge an occupant of the vehicle fired multiple rounds out of the sunroof.

The pursuit continued across the Centennial Bridge into Rock Island, turned back towards the Centennial Bridge and back into Davenport. As the pursuit continued, spikes were deployed at and were tangled in the wheel of the vehicle being pursued. A P.I.T. maneuver was attempted in the area on west 65th St and was unsuccessful. A squad struck a tree and the officer suffered minor injuries. A P.I.T. maneuver in the area of 65th and Brady St. area was successful and the occupants ran from the vehicle. Four were apprehended and charged with more charges possible after the investigation is completed.

Four Officers suffered minor injuries while involved in the incident.
The Criminal Investigation Division is following-up on the incident. No further information is available at this time.
