Sex offender calling Mason City home sent to jail for violation of registry

MASON CITY – A sex offender calling Mason City home has been sent to jail for failing to comply with the state’s sex offender registry.

Julio Cesar Ramirez, age 38 was accused in December of 2016 of violating Iowa code 692A.104. This violation is a class C felony because Ramirez committed a sex offense against a child. He was later found guilty as a result of a plea deal. He was sentenced to 365 days in jail with all but 30 days suspended.

Ramirez was convicted in Minnesota in 2010 for criminal sexual conduct in the 4th degree. He was 24 at the time and his victim was a female between the ages of 17 and 14. Records show he is supposed to be living in an apartment at 2711 4th Street SE.
