CHARLES CITY – A police investigation led to the arrest of a Charles City man for felony drunk driving and child endangerment.

According to Charles City police, on April 12, 2025, officers were called to the 300 block of South Johnson Street to investigate a disturbance. After an investigation, police arrested 31-year-old Luis Eduardo Gonzalez Herrera of Charles City on the following charges:

– Third-offense operating while intoxicated (D FELONY)

– Two counts of child endangerment (AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOR)

Herrera was taken to the Floyd county jail and booked in at 10:48 PM that evening. He was released the next day before 3 PM. He now awaits preliminary hearing set for May 2 at 8:45 AM.

NIT reported back in 2019 that Herrera was arrested in February for first-offense operating while intoxicated, and after a guilt outcome, cost him $993.75.
