From Senator Amanda Ragan –

Our great quality of life is bolstered by the arts, culture and recreation. These opportunities and amenities are important to local communities. They attract families and young professionals to make Iowa their home, create jobs, draw business investment and boost tourism.

Travel and tourism have a huge impact in Iowa, with spending growing faster than the national average in recent years. In 2014, travelers spent more than $8 billion and supported 66,500 Iowa jobs.

  • The Legislature’s investments this year should help continue that trend, while providing great things to do, see and learn. We’re preserving and enhancing Iowa’s history, culture, arts and recreation with:
  • $16 million for Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) (HF 2454). Iowa’s popular REAP program nurtures the state’s natural and cultural resources. Since 1989, the program has provided millions to projects in our local counties, including $2,296,121 in Butler; $1,040,573 in Franklin; and $3,445,096 in Cerro Gordo. Find out about projects made possible with this money at www.iowadnr.gov/Conservation/REAP.
  • Improved Historic Preservation Tax Credits (HF 2443), which help rehabilitate historic buildings and revitalize communities big and small throughout the state. Learn more at www.iowaculture.gov/history/preservation/tax-incentives/state-tax-credit.
  • A new initiative to enhance Iowa’s economic development, create recreational and cultural opportunities, and improve natural resources (SF 2308). Iowa communities will have more chances to bring in events with regional and national appeal, such as NCAA sports, U.S. Olympic Trials, professional golf tournaments, NASCAR and Special Olympics.
  • Improvements to Iowa parks, fairs, trails, waterways, and unique local attractions and events that make our state a great place to live, work and play (SF 2324HF 2454).

Sure wish I had enough money to take a vacation and enjoy all this wonderful work – but as you gathered I am employed in the private sector which has been destroyed over the last 20 years. However I am sure the public servants and their fat cat salaries with raises every year and retiring at 80% of their annual wage with FREE health coverage will be able to take full advantage of the private sector tax burden to accomplish all of these wonderful obama/clinton freebies.

Where did all of your ‘facts’ come from? Oh, that’s right. Trumpsters don’t need facts. They just spout off statistics and claims without foundations. And if you are in the private sector for 20 years without earning a living wage, then perhaps Trump isn’t the man for you. He wants to do away with corporate restrictions so that the corporations can do what they want which includes hiring slave labor so that they can enjoy their million dollar homes, their luxurious vacations and their toys.

hey mr bodacious, where are your facts to dispute his claim? He is correct. Look at the facts, wages are lower today and cost of living is higher compared to 10 years ago, thank you Obama, worst President of this country ever, but what the hell, now I can use the women’s restroom now, that is convenient.

Spot on John, spot on.
None of the economic problems that we are now facing began until January 20th 2009.
Everything was just peachy-keen and a veritable paradise before Barack Obama took office.

George W Bush did everything possible to protect the American Economy and the fact that the Great Recession began under his tenure is all Barack Obama’s fault.

Why just this morning, I burned my toast and it was all because of Barack Obama.
I even heard that Barack Obama BBQ’s American Bald Eagles in the White House birdbaths and I heard it on Fox News so that must be the gospel truth.

“…retiring at 80% of their annual wage with FREE health coverage will be able to take full advantage of the private sector tax burden to accomplish all of these wonderful obama/clinton freebies.” Can you name one person in public service that gets this type of retirement?
