Charles City man hurt when car collides with his bike

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was hospitalized after he rode his bike through a stop sign and was hit by a car.

The accident happened on the evening of June 1. At about 6:23 PM, police were called to investigate an accident at the intersection of Hulin and Wisconsin Streets. There, they discovered that 19-year-old Austin Fisher had rode his bike through a stop sign, failing to stop. He went into the path of a 2004 Chevy Impala driven by 58-year-old Mary Thomson of Decorah. Thomson struck Fisher and his bike, launching Fisher onto the hood and windshield of her car, causing about $1,500 damage.
