LAS VEGAS – Bernie Sanders, a Vermont Senator in the top tier of Democratic Presidential hopefuls, has been released from a Las Vegas hospital after suffering a heart ailment even as his campaign rakes in millions of dollars in donations.

Statement from Sen. Bernie Sanders upon discharge from the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center:

“I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center for the excellent care that they provided. After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work.”

Please find below a statement from Sen. Sanders’ treating physicians Arturo E. Marchand Jr., MD and Arjun Gururaj, MD:

“After presenting to an outside facility with chest pain, Sen. Sanders was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction. He was immediately transferred to Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center.

“The Senator was stable upon arrival and taken immediately to the cardiac catheterization laboratory, at which time two stents were placed in a blocked coronary artery in a timely fashion. All other arteries were normal.

“His hospital course was uneventful with good expected progress. He was discharged with instructions to follow up with his personal physician.”

Meanwhile, Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Campaign Manager Faiz Shakir on Friday issued the following statement on the campaign’s field-leading $25.3 million fundraising haul for the third quarter:

“While the media and political pundits spent the last several months casting doubt on Sen. Sanders’ chances at winning the White House, the working people of this country are ignoring conventional wisdom from Washington. They’re demanding a political revolution which transforms our government and economy, and they are willing to contribute to make that happen.

“At this point in the campaign, Bernie has received more contributions from more individuals than any candidate in the history of American presidential politics. And the overwhelming majority of those donations comes from the working class. The single top occupation listed by Bernie’s donors this quarter was ‘teacher’ and the top employers were Walmart, Starbucks and Amazon. Most importantly, Sen. Sanders – with an average contribution of just $18 – out-raised every candidate relying on closed-door fundraisers in the homes of the wealthiest Americans.

“Our third quarter fundraising totals make clear that Bernie’s campaign is part of a working class movement taking on the greed and corruption of the corporate elite. Let me thank all of our contributors and volunteers. We’re going to win and create the political revolution.”
