ANAMOSA, IA – An Iowa robber died in prison of natural causes, an Iowa correctional official says.
Wayne Shelton, age 50, was pronounced dead at 12:15 PM Friday, March 17 in a Hospice room of the Anamosa State Penitentiary where he had been housed due to a chronic illness. Shelton was 50 years old at the time of his death.
Shelton had been serving a 30 year maximum term for three counts of 2nd degree robbery from Polk County. His sentence began on September 5, 2001.
