MASON CITY – A Mason City woman with several theft arrests in recent months was caught stealing again.
On March 7, Mason City police were dispatched at about 8:48 PM to Dollar Tree, 2560 4th Street SW for a shoplifter. The suspect was located and arrested. Taken to jail was 32-year-old Amber Dawn Willenborg of Mason City on charges of aggravated misdemeanor third-degree theft.
Once incarcerated in the jail, Willenborg faced up to a theft incident she committed on November 15, 2016. She pled guilty to a fourth-degree theft charge brought by Mason city police and was sentenced to 2 days in jail, which she is serving now. She must pay $731.25 in fines and court fees as well.
In February, Willenborg pled guilty and was sentenced for another theft from lat November. Employees at Jo-Ann Fabric, 500 Indianhead Drive, called police to investigate a shoplifting incident at the store on November 9, 2016 at about 7:16 PM. Officers arrived and arrested Willenborg, who was charged with third-degree theft. Her sentence was 2 days in jail and $1068.75 in fines and court fees.
Earlier in 2016, Cerro Gordo deputies assisted Mason City police on a theft call Sunday night, August 14, 2016 at about 8:53 PM at the Target store, located at 3450 4th Street SW. Willenborg was at the store, attempted to steal merchandise, and then fled the store and drove away. A deputy was in the area and located Willenborg’s car and she was stopped and arrested. Willenborg was taken to the county jail on multiple charges, including third and fourth degree theft, possession of meth and two other drug charges. She was given a deferred judgement in a guilty plea last December and was put on probation. Just the fourth-degree theft charge and a controlled substance violation charge were dismissed. She was ordered to pay $715.00 in fines and court fees.

This is a joke. Everyone knows the bitch is a kleptomaniac and a crackhead. She steals to support her habit when she can’t on her back. What’s really sad is the courts do nothing to get her the help she needs to get off the meth and crack. Com on courts! You got to do better.
When there is no penalty other than a slap on the wrist, she will just keep on stealing.
She needs to be banned from retail businesses.
Wouldn’t matter if it was. The county attorney will accept a plea bargain to drop it to 5th degree and she will get a suspended fine. Only when she steals from the mayor or the actual prosecutor will they give a crap and push for a harsh punishment.
after 3 theft convictions, should the 3rd one not be considered a felony? Time to do time!
The third one is an aggravated misdemeanor regardless of the “value”. If you want it to be a felony talk to the legislature which is the branch of government defining “crime” and “penalties, deterence and rehabilitation”.
