Fourteen years ago today, a Hampton woman was the victim of an unsolved murder that still haunts her family.

Roberta “Bobbi” Crawford, 53, was murdered inside her Hampton, Iowa home, on November 17th, 1999.

Lee Crawford, Bobbie’s only son, wife Jolie and their two sons, Tyler and Levi live in Sigourney, Iowa, and still seek answers for their loss.

“It’s been 14 years ago today and we still have no answers,” Jolie said. “So how do we live with it? I gave this to God several years ago. It will be HIS timing if we are to know what happened while we are here on this earth, not ours. Maybe he doesn’t want to put my two beautiful children, Lee, and me through a trial with details that will hurt us. Who knows–maybe the killer is no longer alive and has already faced judgment … we know where he is. We accept that because we have put our trust in God and have faith in Him. We are careful about what we watch on TV, because there are so many shows about killers. We try not to go to that dark place and figure out ourselves what happened or it will destroy us. We know that many cold cases are being solved and we will never give up hope. We are survivors. I am so proud of Lee Crawford and how he has dealt with the unfair hand he’s been given when he lost his best friend. We think about her every day and know she would be so proud of Tyler and Levi in all that they have done. We love you and miss you Bobbi!”

In an interview with Aaron Brilbeck of Channel 13, that aired on WHO-TV, January 27, 2011, Lee Crawford said, “Growing up, it had been just the two of us. It was me and her together. All my trials and tribulations and all my emotions kind of went through her. So the way I react to things kinda comes from her. I kind of wear my heart on my sleeve and that’s kind of where she was. Everything was my heart on my sleeve.”
