Good God——–reading these posts—–what a bunch of stupid comments.
WHA WHA WHAAAAA….just sad…..
Does anybody really think that big business would pay their employees $20.00 an hour if they didn’t have too. Whether you like unions or not, if it wasn’t for them, we would all be making $5.00 an hour or less. Unions were established because big business were not paying their employees a decent livable wage. It’s just like what’s going on now around the country, people trying to raise the minimum wage because they can’t live on $7.00 an hour. If it wasn’t for unions we all would be working 10-12 hour days and maybe 7 days a week. Early in the 19th century the early tradesmen soon realized what was going on, so they organized, and that was the beginning of trade unions. Ah, but it’s easier to sit back and complain about something that you know nothing about. Stop complaining, and become one of those over paid government workers. I too maybe think that some government workers are paid too much, but whining about it isn’t going me out of my dead end job.
Sorry, it’s dark in the small room I live in. Last sentence should read, “getting me out of my dead end job”. Just want to make myself perfectly clear.
Remarkable insight and excellent post. My Immigrant grandfather Irishman worked for pennies a day building the railroad during the turn of the century. Our family would have starved without the Labor Movement. How quickly we forget… how easy we change reality.
You can thank their Jimmy Hoffa style unions for this – these unions control politicians who want their votes – pay the piper sheeple.
Add another $15,000.00 per person for health insurance/dental/ipers retirement fund etc etc. AH !!!! THE GOOD LIFE!
I just got sick. There’s where all of are tax money goes. Sad. Nex time you see a Cerro Gordo employee please by them a sandwich. God noise there just getting by. Not
spell check, fool
What does John Boedeker do again? I mean besides drive drunk.
Hey you> SAD but True < Don't be saying crap about these jobs, all of them do a job that somebody else didn't want or was not qualified to do. Keep your quips of jealousy to yourself.
our public servants have prices themselves out of jobs, huge wages, sick days, personal days, ipers forever. The private sector taxpayer can no longer afford it
A lot of these employee’s would be making significantly more in the private sector… Sorry you have no marketable skills to get a decent paying job.
If this was true, they wouldnt be working for the government. I gurantee very few of the county workers have gone to college for anything that actually pertains to their job. People talk out of their ass so often in these comments.
Really, deputy sheriff making less then $60,000 is pricing them self out of a job, are you kidding me?
A truck driver getting 60 K a year plus those benefits is certainly priced out of the market.
O poor me, I’ll never make that much, sleeping until noon, playing video games on my smart phone, smoking a coffin nail, an drinking Ol E’s, until I’m to stupid to go to work.
Thank You Allen! Most people that bitch about government jobs are just envious. They would be the first to bitch if they lost any government serves though!
FYI- I am not a government employee but do appreciate the jobs they do for us.
All I can say is WOW. Is there anybody in Mason City who does not have a government job? look at the wages. Is there ANY wonder why they need more and more tax dollars, my God
You do realize the county is bigger and more than just Mason City, right? I’m sorry that you will work for peanuts, most of these are paid accordingly.
