CLEAR LAKE – A Clear Lake police officer facing a domestic assault charge says he is not guilty and the altercation was self-defense on his part.

On Thursday, December 1, 2016, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office investigated a reported domestic assault incident that occurred in Clear Lake. As a result of the investigation, Ryan Ray Eskildsen, age 36 of Clear Lake, was arrested and charged with Serious Misdemeanor Domestic Assault.

Mr. Eskildsen is a police officer employed with the Clear Lake Police Department serving in that capacity since October 2002. He was soon released from jail and a no-contact order was placed against Eskildsen, who has reportedly been on paid administrative leave since the incident.

On January 11, Eskildsen and his lawyer, Rich Piscopo, entered a not-guilty plea. Court records indicate his defense in the alleged altercation will be a claim of self defense.

A jury trial is scheduled for March 28, 2017. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for March 13.

I wonder if Eskildsen realizes his job with the Clear Lake cop shop may be in jeopardy if he’s convicted of Serious Misdemeanor Domestic Assault. I believe the Federal Gun Control Act says a law enforcement officer who has been convicted of a “misdemeanor crime of domestic violence” will not be able to lawfully possess or receive firearms or ammunition for any purpose, including performing his official duties.

Sure.

I knew a guy that worked with Charles Manson when they were 18 out in Fresno, Ca, He tole me he was a hell of a nice guy!!!! Holy Shit Batman

sure are a lot of woman that beat their men. She “snapped”

Everyone deserves the benefit of Due Process….cops and accused alike. All we’ve ever asked for is equanimity in application of the law. If he’s guilty, so be it. If he’s innocent so be it. But that goes for non-police officers accused of the same crime. Who needs to be paying attention to this are the judges and prosecutors. We want FAIRNESS…do you understand? FAIRNESS.

I used to work with Ryan years ago. There was not a mean bone in his body!

I know his wife or girlfriend. She is hot and she can beat me any day of the week. Not that being said, the moral of the story is to run. Don’t stick around, run! If they split!,I would love to be with her!

Self defense RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Puzzy

Hey it might be true – but if it sets a standard – oh well – stand your ground .
