NIACC women’s basketball team ranked 17th in latest poll

MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA Division II poll released Tuesday.

NIACC (6-5 overall) split a pair of games last weekend in the Kansas City area. The Lady Trojans topped MCC-Penn Valley 87-73 and dropped a 88-72 decision to No. 5 Johnson County CC.

Kirkwood (12-0) is ranked No. 1 and DMACC (10-2) is ranked No. 10.

It is the eighth straight poll that has included NIACC as the Lady Trojans were ranked in the final four polls of the 2015-16 season and have been ranked in the first four polls of the 2016-17 season.

NIACC returns to action Dec. 28 against No. 15 Kalamazoo Valley (6-1) in the opening round of the Illinois Central tournament in East Peoria, Ill.
