MASON CITY – The Village Cooperative’s annual Rummage and Bake Sale is testimony to the treasured simplicity of its residents’ lifestyles. Each year the 50 home-owner/shareholders discover more and more items they prefer to do without. The solution? Hold a rummage sale to share those items with the public at very affordable prices.
They also ‘sweeten’ the event by offering coffee and home-made cinnamon rolls for just $2 from 8-10 am! In addition, a variety of other home-baked items are for sale until gone, too.
This year’s event will be held from 8 am through 1 pm Saturday, Sept. 10. A sampling of sale items includes a 21-speed bicycle, a 3-wheel bike, and other bicycles; women’s Chico and other clothing; good bake-ware and dishes; a large coffee table with drawer, lower shelf and castors; an electric recliner; games, books and puzzles; a canister vac complete with book and tools; glass garden sculptures; a never-used small pet carrier; a working miniature red popcorn popper; a like-new red sunbonnet; decorating materials; jewelry; collectible straight edge shavers and marbles; a miscellaneous supply of new cabinet doors; and a tremendous amount of other items for home, gifts, or personal use.
The Village Cooperative is located at 275 N. Taft Ave. (between Highway 122 and N. 12th St.) in Mason City. It is owned by its wholly independent residents and, with 50 units in various sizes and floor plans, forms a neighborhood comparable to several square blocks of single-family homes.
