MASON CITY – A couple of ladies using the environment as their own personal trash can were busted by an observant officer and hauled to jail on drug charges.
Tuesday evening around 5:46 PM, a Mason City police officer observed the occupants of a car discard a can and plastic debris from the vehicle while it was in motion near the 900 block of South Illinois. Officers stopped the car to investigate littering.
Two ladies inside the car, Katlin Marie Dravenstott and Allison Kay Teeter, both age 20 of Mason City, were cited for littering. The investigation also discovered a small amount of controlled substance (marijuana).
Both females were arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance. Dravenstott was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were taken to the county jail.
Apparently, Ms. Dravenstott was not happy about her arrest, and left this social media post after she was released from jail:

Who cares about a little weed? I get pizzed of when people litter or tell me how great the Clinton mafia is.

What some small minded people fail to think about is the people that are sick and have addictions. Tax dollars would be much better spent helping these people than to throw them in jail then let them out to repeat again. Just because your perfect you fail to think about the reasons some people may do this. Rape, child abuse, neglect, etc. These people don’t grow up wishing to have problems. Most of them were the poor kids that our kids came home from school talking about.
BULL-Everyone who gets convicted on a drug charge has to take mandatory rehab. They don’t have a choice as it is part of their sentence. They all know the rules and they had a choice and made the wrong one.
Just wondering, which offense was the (bad choice), littering or possession.
Don’t they remember the old tv ad “Every litter bit helps”. I mean hurts.
Maybe we all need to stop and remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes, before making snide and ridiculing comments about other people’s choices! I’m sure none of you readers that are so quick to comment about the choices of others and put them down for their mistakes have ever made negative choices they are embarrassed about or wish they could change right!?!? Unless you are perfect, maybe you should mind your business and get your choices in check before harassing others for theirs! I happen to know Katlin and have for years! She’s a good person, just made a bad choice, so leave her the hell alone!
Maybe that others will find out about. They should obey the law and stop taking advantage of the rest of us. They should throw the book at them and teach them a lesson
yea throw the book at them for something that will be legal in a couple years. wasted time and money when there are better things to worry about like the child molesters they let live next to our children
Legalize littering!
The thing that makes me mad is the littering! People who think they can drive around and throw their trash out the window for someone else to pick up shows an utter lack of respect for other people, the community and society in general.
It amazes me how many people are willing to kick people when they are down. People make mistakes, especially young kids and adults. I’m sure everyone knows someone who has made mistakes and paid for them. Don’t forget that next time it could be you, your child, your best friend, etc. We teach our children not to bully because it’s wrong. What kind of example are we setting when adults are doing this? Good people do not prey on others faults.
Don’t do the crime– if you can’t do the time!!

A couple more scoff laws get caught and they’re p’d off, too f’n bad. They probably blamed their misfortune on the police. As punishment for littering, they should be court ordered to pick up both sides of 122 from here to clear lake, on a hot day.
