CLAYTON COUNTY, IOWA – A teenage girl plowed into the back of a school bus Monday morning and could face charges.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 17-year-old Lucinda Hansel of Alrington, Iowa, was driving her 2004 Pontiac Bonneville westbound on Highway 3 at the Fayette county and Clayton county line at about 7:55 AM Monday morning, May 2. She proceeded to strike the rear end of a stopped school bus, which was picking up passengers. The bus’ stop arm was extended and lights were activated at the time of collision. There were 34 kids on the bus.
Hansel, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured as a result of the crash. She was taken to a hospital in Manchester, Iowa.
Authorities say charges are pending.

She should be charged. But not harsh unless someone was hurt.

I wonder how many times she has seen that bus, on that road, at that time. Must have really been distracted/speeding/not paying attention, to not see a big yellow bus with it’s lights flashing. She’s lucky she didn’t kill anyone. Hopefully it’s a wake up call.
The fog was really bad this morning. I have no idea if that was a factor or not but don’t just assume she was texting.
With that kind of impact, I HIGHLY doubt fog was a factor! More like stupidity! Let’s pray that no one got killed or hurt. As for the driver, she’s DAMN lucky she’s not 6 foot under. Jesus Christ, people! How many kids need to get hurt or, worse, KILLED before y’all get some common sense to pay attention to the damn road! Get off your phones!!
