MASON CITY – A Mason City man is behind bars accused of sexual assault today after police were called to a residence for an investigation.
Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of North Pennsylvania just after 1:00 AM Wednesday morning on a complaint of a violation of a court order. Further investigation revealed that an adult female had been sexually assaulted by a person known to her.
The investigation led to the arrest of 41-year-old Michael Eugene Carter of Mason City for third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. Carter is currently being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $10,000 bond.
