MASON CITY – A St. Ansgar teen has been ticketed after colliding with an on-duty deputy’s vehicle at a busy intersection.
On Sunday, April 10, 2016, at approximately 6:53 p.m. Mason City Police were called to a motor vehicle crash at S Federal Avenue and 5th Street. The crash involved two vehicles, one of those was a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office vehicle being driven by an on-duty deputy sheriff. Neither driver was injured in the crash.
The CGSO vehicle was being driven by Deputy Zach Scott, from Mason City, and was westbound on 5th Street on a green light. The other vehicle was driven by Miricle Corbo, a teen from St. Ansgar, and was northbound on Federal Avenue on a red light. Scott was in the intersection when his vehicle was struck by Corbo’s.
Scott’s Chevrolet Tahoe had approximately $4,000 in damage and was towed from the scene. Corbo’s Chrysler Sebring suffered approximately $5,000 in damage and was also towed. An investigation was completed at the scene and included a review of video footage from the patrol vehicle. The investigation into this crash is now complete. Corbo is being cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

John ! It’s like George Carlin says -the government is a club and if you don’t belong to it your fkd. Just ask TRUMP for 2016.
The cop should have had LOUD PIPES! could have prevented this, oh wait.
i am so tired of the postings getting deleted, no more freedom of speech then i am out of here.
David-I deleted those comments. They were not mine. Some a-hole was using my name so I got rid of them. That has been going on for a couple of weeks. I have even seen post with your name that I know were not yours. I have talked to Matt about it and I think those people will be banned if they copy someone else’s name.
Agreed. Post count shows 5 but far fewer are here. I’m shopping around and may take a walk for the same reason. Spirited disagreement is healthy but deleting comments undermines trust and integrity. Some are attempting to crash this sight, built on dialogue.
I’ll bet hat cost the taxpayers some money.
Really? Why wouldn’t the teen’s insurance cover the cost of the damaged police vehicle?
A lot of these kids drive with little or no insurance.
You’re an idiot.
This kid is 16 years old and is on parents insurance.
But then making ignorant comments is your forte in life.
Besides, it already cost the deputy’s time and the Mason City police for the investigation. Insurance doesn’t cover that.
Your thought process is truly something to behold.
On another story you claimed “it was an accident, get over it”.
What a piece of work.
If it were the other way around, it would have been a warning! No double standard here
If the kid hit two vehicles on State Street, and the Sheriff’s office investigated, they would have given the young man a warning just like they did with the MCPD officer Klemness.
