MASON CITY – A Mason City man who got a lenient sentence just weeks ago in a drug possession case with a deferred judgement and probation was arrested Sunday for domestic abuse.
Mason City police officers were dispatched for a physical domestic to an apartment at 1115 4th Street SE Sunday at 3:26 AM. After an investigation, Tristen Marcelle Johannessen, age 18, was arrested on a charge of felony domestic abuse assault involving strangulation.
Johannessen is being held on bond at this time in the county jail as he awaits a November 6 court date.
Johannessen had been charged by Mason City police back in June with first offense marijuana possession and pled guilty in September as part of a deferred judgment. He was given a year of probation and ordered to pay $712.50 in fines and court fees, which has been sent to debt collection.
