FORT DODGE – An Iowa prison inmate attacked and injured a guard Sunday and the incident is under investigation.
On September 6, 2015 at approximately 8:00 P.M., security staff immediately responded to an officer assault on the Dolliver Living Unit at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. Inmate Vincent Dillworth assaulted a male correctional officer with several punches and kicks to the officer’s face. Responding security staff immediately restrained and placed Dillworth in an administrative segregation cell.
The officer’s injuries were reviewed by the institution’s Health Services and transported by staff to the Fort Dodge Unity Point Medical Center for further treatment. Although the Department considers this incident a serious assault, the officer’s injuries are not life threatening.
Dillworth is serving a 10 year sentence for Robbery Second Degree from Scott County. This sentence began on March 2, 2012.
The Division of Criminal Investigation has been contacted to assist with the investigation. Findings of the investigation will be referred to the Webster County Attorney’s Officer for prosecution.
As a result of the incident, three living units have been placed on temporary lockdown status. The lockdown will be reviewed this date for possible return to normal operations.
Due to the ongoing investigation, additional information is not available for public release at this time.
