You may have read in the news about the white woman from out west who pretended to be black and has now been revealed as a fraudster, prompting her to quit her job.
They say she got a free college education and drives a Porsche, all due to her alleged lies and deceit.
Her story is ridiculous, and reminds me of a similar tale told here in Mason City about a certain elected official.
You see, a few years back, a certain elected official was portrayed as a “stay at home dad” who parented and took care of his kids all day long. He was held up as some kind of gleaming example of the perfect American man, dad, role model.
The truth was, we were lied to.
This fraudster dropped his kids at a local daycare almost everyday, for most all of the day. He did little or no parenting besides his taxi service, which was dubious, because former workers at that daycare told me how this twice-elected official seemed to be drunk all the time and nearly ran people over in the parking lot on a number of occasions. They said a lot more than that, too.
Don’t believe me? Let’s bring the witnesses in and see what they all have to say. Just wear a chin harness so you don’t injure your mouth when your jaw drops and hits the table below you.
Look, this is old news. Many folks now know about this lie told by the Big Trudging Liar at 300 North Washington. They laugh heartily about the booze stories they readily repeat from their own sources. Reminds me of the Jurassic World movie I sat through Friday night. It’s an entertaining, yet stupid story about a monster created by self-serving mad scientists who wreaks havoc on thousands. That story might sound familiar to you, too.
I’m just saying, I’m sick of the frauds amongst us – there’s too many of them – and they shouldn’t get a free pass.
Applaud the hard workers and actual “doers” who deserve accolades, not false role models artificially perched on a pedestal by morons through deceit.
Well, he makes me sick. But, they used to have to put a muzzle on or prop up Roger Bang, our last Mayor,,the difference: He cared, he worked hard to achieve his success and he believed that all citizens had a right to be a part of the process…
@Anonymous-Agreed. Roger was a nice guy who sometimes drank to much. But, he cared about Mason City and the people in it. Bookie could care less about anything but himself.
So show up at a city council meeting sometime and challenge him to his face. I go there often and have never seen you. You snipe from behind your keyboard all day, you wussy!
OMG Get real. Roger Bang only cared about himself. He was/is a drunk. Drunks are selfish and care only about who they can do next. It was always about his money buddies with Bang. What a joke to say he cared about Mason City. jeeesh
@Anonymous-I am going by what his peers on the council at that time said about him. Even Weaver liked the guy. At least he would talk to you and he did talk to me many times. That was back when the council allowed you to speak without making faces or flat cutting you off. I used to attend every council meeting but stopped after two or three meetings with the elite’s that are there now. They are not interested at all in hearing what you have to say as their minds are already made up. I have sent Hickey and the mayor many e-mails and have never had a response.
Weaver ONLY likes people who either agree with him or he can control and intimidate. Mr. Bang posed no opposition (as ANY mayor should not to a council) so I bet the council liked him just fine.
“Don’t believe me? Let’s bring the witnesses in and see what they all have to say.” Please,Please PLEASE bring in all the witnesses and let them tell their story. I know you Matt have an ax to grind, so let someone else tell the TRUE story and stand behind it!!!!
Come on now Reggie, using named sources and being a journalist isn’t Marquart’s thing. He’s more interested in click-bait and gossip-mongering. It’s really a shame too, I think he had the chance to bring a valuable perspective to things happening in Mason City.
This is HIS website, and he can run it however he sees fit, but until he starts revealing who all of these mysterious sources are he cites in virtually every story he will never gain any credibility. I work for a news organization (no not the Globe) and if I pulled half the s##t he does I would have been out on my a## a long time ago.

If you work for a news source why are you hiding your name. Are you ashamed of what you write?
If the real truth were to enter the room and take seat at the table we could quickly separate the wheat from the chaff. While this man is an embarrassment to the community, while his refusal to seek treatment smacks of in your face arrogance and the smug confidence of a small cadre of hanger oners who prop him up in public places……hope silently he will dole out some measure of monetary recognition that could put a few sheckles into their pocket.
No the real hell lives at his home and is suffered far more by his family. If you are going to pray, then pray for them…… I look across the landscape of this small farm town city and I don’t see his name anywhere.

Also, Mayor Ken Kew went to the wall for the Chamber and down town do gooder;s who got big money for junk buildings. When it come time to honor him with a plaque on the wall of mall it was a big NO.
Our current village idiot won’t have a face or a name in a few years. He is so full of himself he just don’t get it.

Here is what I find appalling. All his supporters and voters know of this behaviour but choose to accept this lack of character as “ok”.
For me the message is: Mason City is a very sic community. “Birds of feather really do, all flock together”.

If they profit from the guy, they seem to think any behavior is acceptable.
The sad thing is, yet again today, lengthy conversation with MC citizen who told me another version of the same story. She volunteered everything, I never even asked. Her story was off-topic, which centered around new parking spaces at Mercy.
Elected Officials that brag about getting drunk are just spoiled children that never grew up. I knew when our mayor was running exactly what type of person he was. A executive recruiter lives by lies and deceit and he did not disappoint.
I’ve heard about him almost hitting people in the parking lot at the daycare. It’s not a story. It’s true.
