PLYMOUTH – A North Iowa man apparently decided to burn his barn down, prompting a visit from local emergency responders.
The incident was reported at around 10:16 PM. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a building fire at 21738 Fallspark Drive in Plymouth. Deputies immediately went to that location, along with Plymouth and Nora Springs Fire Departments. A barn was found to be engulfed in flames upon arrival.
The owner of the property, Tyler Behne, reported that he was trying to burn the barn down intentionally. No property was inside the barn at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
He probably should have contacted the sheriff department before he did this to tell them he was going to do a controlled burn. The fire department probably would have shown up anyway to watch it if for nothing else, safety and training.
