MASON CITY – The wrecking ball is on the way, but citizens will have one more chance to walk the halls and classrooms of one of the last old schools left in Mason City.
The Mason City Community School District Board of Education is inviting the community to an open house at Madison Elementary, 2620 S. Jefferson Ave., from 10 AM to noon on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The district said that this will be the final opportunity for the community, former staff, and alumni of Madison to visit this building and share memories before the abatement and demolition work begins on the site in the coming weeks. District personnel will be available to provide tours and answer questions.
Anyone with further information or questions should contact Community Relations and Communications at the Mason City School District at 641-421-4401.
Any one who thinks this city is growing needs to look at the schools we have lost over the years. At least five by my count. Where are all the kids?
We are losing hundreds in population and people are moving out in droves. The only “gain” is from Beje Clark. They ship in the troublemakers and they become our new neighbors. It’s the truth.
The other gain is from the imports they bring in. Some are good people but it sure seems like a lot of them are starting to be a huge law problem.
