NIACC volleyball team goes 1-1 at home triangular

MASON CITY – The NIACC volleyball team topped Dakota County Technical College 3-0 and dropped a 3-0 decision to Ellsworth on Friday in the NIACC gym.

NIACC (11-18 overall) beat DCTC 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. Ellsworth downed the Lady Trojans 25-22, 25-12, 25-15.

Sophomore Brianna Haugen led the Lady Trojans with 10 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Abbey Knowlton was next in line with five kills and freshman Karlie Niedert added four kills and five blocks.

Also, sophomore Heather Danburg collected 20 assists and freshman Amber Carter had 11 digs. Sophomore Caitlyn Hanig had three blocks.

In the match against Ellsworth, Haugen had nine kills, eight digs and three ace serves, Knowlton had seven kills and Madison Wood and Kendall Moorehead both had four kills.

Also, Danburg had 23 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Amber Carter had 13 digs and Moorehead had seven digs.

NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Central.
