Mason City teen accused of causing accident, fleeing scene

cited-police-featured1CHARLES CITY – A Mason City teen has been accused of three traffic violations after allegedly causing thousands in damages in a car accident in Charles City.

According to Charles City police, on September 21 at about 4:15 PM, officers went to the 1100 block of North Grand Avenue after a report of a hit and run.

After an investigation, police determined that a 1995 Ford Mustang driven by 16-year-old Michael Rouch of Mason City struck a legally parked 1998 Lincoln Continental and ha fled the scene. The collision caused an estimated $3,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.

Rouch was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, speeding (16-20 miles per hour over the limit) and failure to provide proof of insurance.
