WASHINGTON – President Obama delivered remarks on border security and immigration reform from the White House Rose Garden on June 30, 2014, and lashed out at House Republicans for ignoring the issue.

The President reproached House Republicans for their unwillingness to confront the immigration issue, which has reached a crisis level due to the recent influx of unaccompanied children and adults with children across the southwest border. In response to the border crisis, on Monday the President announced that he has directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to move available and appropriate resources from the interior to the border, to deal with the recent influx there. As part of that, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson announced during his visit to the Texas-Mexico border Monday the immediate deployment of approximately 150 U.S. Border Patrol agents to the Rio Grande Valley Sector to augment illegal entry detection efforts while enhancing processing and detention capabilities. Johnson said DHS is working closely with the governments of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to counter this recent surge in migrant children.

Speaking a year ago to the month when the Senate passed an immigration reform bill, the President on Monday outlined what Republican obstruction in the House has meant over the past year:

  • We have fewer resources to strengthen our borders;
  • Businesses can still game the system by hiring undocumented workers — which punishes businesses that are playing by the rules and hurting the wages of hard-working Americans;
  • The best and brightest that come to study in the United States are still forced to leave, heading overseas and subsequently competing against our workers; and
  • Eleven million immigrants are still living in the shadows, instead of having the opportunity to earn their citizenship.

DHS also said on Monday that Individuals, including adults with children, illegally entering the United States are subject to removal and are not eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or the earned citizenship provisions in the immigration reform bill pending before the Congress. DHS is in the process of establishing a temporary facility for adults with children in expedited removal on the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s (FLETC) Artesia, New Mexico campus. This is part of the whole of government response to the urgent humanitarian situation along the Southwest Border and in the Rio Grande Valley specifically. This facility will add approximately 700 additional beds for adults with children. This temporary facility will allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to increase its capacity to house and process these apprehended individuals.

I see on national TV news that protesters in california blocked the buses hauling those illegals from new mexico to california – heck all those states are broke because of this BS.

That’s true. The vast majority of illegals come into the country legally. Sure a few run across and these are the ones not allowed back in.

Have you ever been down there, what makes you such an expert on the subject?

Don’t believe everything that comes out of Washington. What they say and what is really happening are two different things. His policy is, open the gates and let them in, let them all in.

Diseases and all.

No reason to “open the gates”. Most all illegals enter legally and then stay. Don’t let the news media propaganda of showing some illegal climbing fences cloud the facts or your thinking.

The one that I saw was 6 or so border patrol agents standing arm to arm with well over 100 or so illegals rushing them and across the border.

Strange-I used to see them jump the fences all the Time in Del Rio, Texas. I always get a kick out of someone who can’t even spell Texas telling other people what happens there.
