CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man with a history of domestic abuse ran from police after they responded to yet another allegedly violent incident he was involved in.
According to Charles City police, the incident took place on August 2, 2023. At about 6:59 PM that evening, officers went to the 600 block of 7th Avenue for a report of an assault that had taken place. Police were informed the suspect, 36-year-old Jeffrey Allan Martin (pictured above in a jail photo), had fled on foot. Police soon located Martin and after he allegedly resisted officers, was taken into custody.
Martin was taken to the Floyd county jail, where he remains held on $5,000 bond. He faces new charges of interference with official acts and two counts of felony D third-offense domestic abuse assault. He has been appointed a public defender and awaits a hearing on August 11.
