MASON CITY – It could have been vandals or just naughty kids, but fire officials say a Monday morning fire at a Mason City park was caused intentionally.
The Mason City Fire Department was dispatched on Monday, May 26th at about 4:56 AM to the Ray Rorick skate park in the 900 block of 15th Street SW for a possible shed fire. Two fire trucks responded from the station, as well as Mason City police. Upon arriving, fire fighters found a porta-potty and the fence structure around it on fire. Command was established and the fire was attacked using a 1.75″ line from a truck; the other truck was released from the scene. The fire consumed most of the porta potty prior to fire fighters arriving and all of the fence material was burned off or removed from the metal frame structure. The parks and recrecreation department was notified of the situation. The fire caused roughly $500 in damages.
There does not appear to be any suspects at this time.

Thats the second one destroyed at the skate park. When it comes to arson, and thats what it was, whats the difference between vandalism and naughty kids??? The damage cost is more like $1000.00, as the kybo costs that much. There has to be a very hot flame to start a kybo on fire, probably started by the same people that did the first one.
