DES MOINES – The Iowa Board of Medicine will hold an informational session and public meeting from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, January 23, 2014, in the Iowa Statehouse.
The meeting, in Room 15 in the lower level of the Capitol, is a part of the Board’s continuing efforts to inform Iowans about this state agency’s work, goals and objectives in the licensure and regulation of physicians. The public session is a part of a scheduled two-day working meeting of the Board.
The 10-member Board issues licenses to qualified physicians who are setting up their practices in Iowa or are securing clinical training at residency programs in hospitals throughout the state. In addition, the Board is responsible for establishing standards of practice for physicians and responding to public complaints and mandatory reports that raise questions about physicians’ ability to practice medicine safely and professionally.
